Course Design Assessment Report

Course Information Update – April 2022

The Goal and objectives for our Course are set out in our Strategic Plan (2021-2025) - see below for detail.

With these goals in mind, we are committed to replace the existing irrigation system.  To ensure that project is carried out in a way that provides maximum benefit to the club we have also sought professional advice on how to enhance the course from a design perspective.  This will not only assist the Board in designing a masterplan for the future but also ensure that the irrigation project is carried out in a manner that increases the efficiency of our watering system and ‘future proofs’ it as best we can.

(A practical example would be laying the pipework for a future tee change while laying the pipes for the current tee)

The attached Design Review and Assessment Report was prepared for the club by Ryan Van Der Veen who is an extremely experienced and highly respected course designer.  The Report contains many observations and suggestions which would improve our course but would also undoubtedly involve considerable cost if all were to be implemented.   The Board will need to consider these proposals and make decisions on what is possible short term, mid-term and long term, while ensuring our focus remains on the benefits available to the club of the Irrigation Upgrade.

I encourage all members to read the Report and provide any written feedback to our General Manager via email (manager@vinesgolfclub.com.au). Paul Gregory, Chair of our Course Committee, will also be making a presentation on this Report at the forthcoming Member’s Information Night that is to be held on 2nd May 2022.  That will provide another opportunity for members to raise any questions or seek clarity on any concerns.
