Cleek 1

Royal Adelaide defeated The Vines 3/2

The girls acquitted themselves well on an unfamiliar course, Royal Adelaide having reciprocal rights at Kooyonga gave them the advantage of knowing the course but with two wins, two matches were taken to the 17th and the other to the 18th. The girls certainly gave it their best shot and are to be commended for their efforts, a good win by Carolyn 7/6, so well done everyone.

Hickory

We played North Adelaide at North Adelaide on Monday 20th May. Unfortunately we were one player short, so a loss before we start, then we also lost the other four matches, so a 5-0 loss. Better luck next week ladies.

Women's Grade 4 Pennant

The team had a good win at Grange West today against West Lakes. Good wins from Cathy Hayward (6/5) and Kathy Michaelson (4/3) put us in good stead. The three other matches went to the 18th with wins in two of those, giving us a 4/1 victory.

Simpson Cup - Round 2

This week The Vines were up against the reigning pennant holders in Glenelg.

We played at the Grange - West Course in drizzly, thundery conditions.

It was unfortunately a day when most of our team struggled against a very strong opposition going down 5.5 to 1.5 matches.

Jordan Percey playing in only his second Simpson Cup match managed the only win of the day with a terrific 1 up result. This would have given him a great deal of satisfaction after losing 1 down in Round 1. Alex Curtin once again showed his class with a squared match against the Glenelg number 1.

Bonnar Cup - Round 2

The Bonnar Cup team played Flagstaff Hill at Blackwood on Sunday. The weather was terrible for most of the round. Rain showers increased during the day to a point where the greens were almost unplayable at the halfway point. A small reprieve in the intensity of the showers allowed the greens to dry up enough to play on. It was a great day for the Mark's with Marc Fulton winning 4 and 3, Mark Potter won 4 and 2, and Mark Inglis birdied the last to square the hole and win the match 1 up. Alan Fulton continued his good form winning 2 up. The Vines finished a difficult day with a 4/3 win.

The Bonnar Cup team takes on Glenelg at home this week.

Hickory

Hickory also had a win on Monday, with a 3/2 win over the Grange at Blackwood. It went down to the wire with us sitting on 2-2 until our number 1 player finally won on the 17th.

Cleek 1 - Round 2

A good win for the girls against Blackwood at Royal Adelaide. The teams were evenly matched, our girls all giving one stroke apart from Carolyn who had to give two. She played very steady golf and stayed in control of the match all day finishing 3 and 2. Denise had a very good day winning 6 and 4, Alana and Cate took their matches to the 18th to finish square resulting in a win for The Vines 3 and 2.

A great effort by all the team.

Women's Grade 4 Pennant - Round 2

After last week's disappointing loss to Blackwood on their home course, the team bounced back to have a 3.5 to 1.5 win over Highercombe at Tea Tree Gully. It was good to have our number one player, Cathy Hayward, back from her overseas trip.

Next week the team play West Lakes at the Grange (West Course).

Simpson Cup - Round 1

The Vines squared their match against Kooyonga in Round 1.

After nine holes it looked like the home course advantage might be enough but some spirited fight backs by Kooyonga players reversed the trend.

In the final match, Alex Curtin managed a win on the 18th to even the overall scores for the day. Michael Bruggeman and Brendan Fisher both had solid wins and Tony Nobbs had a half.

The Simpson Cup team takes on Glenelg at The Grange (West Course) this week.

Bonnar Cup - Round 1

The Bonnar Cup team played North Adelaide at Kooyonga on Sunday. Two of our juniors, Charlie Nobbs and Boston Price, made their Bonnar Cup debut and did not disappoint. Charlie hit the lead early on and never looked back, playing some great golf to get a 4 & 3 win. Boston had a tight match with his opponent and narrowly missed a 30 foot putt on the last to take the win, and had to settle for a well earned half. Well done boys.

Sush Prakash also made his debut in Bonnar Cup. Sush led all day, only to be pipped on the last hole to go one down in what was a good match. Alan Fulton showed his experience in winning the last two holes to take a 1 up win.

Rex Williamson had a tough day at the office and Marc Fulton was unlucky to be beaten on the last hole of the day. Mark Ingliss made his return to The Vines pennant team and played a very good North Adelaide number 1. Mark was down early, but clawed his way back to be square with three holes to play. Some miraculous golf by the North Adelaide number 1 on the second last hole got North Adelaide the victory 4.5 matches to 2.5.

The Bonnar Cup team takes on Flagstaff Hill at Blackwood this week.
